The Brazilian Army confirmed on 14 July that the service is gradually replacing its assault rifles with IA2 rifles, built by state-owned IMBEL (Indústria de Material Bélico do Brasil). The 5.56×45 mm IA2 weighs 3,38 kg unloaded and can be used in automatic or semi-automatic modes. The assault rifle features a folding stock and is able to shoot up to 600 rounds per minute.
